The company Rex Articoli Tecnici SA was founded in 1935 by Ing. Ignazio Favini. Rex is characterized by its fabrication of chemical products, especially with glue for the shoe industry.

In the 50s' - with the introduction of glue based on elastomers REX also started with the fabrication of rubber compounds. Afterwards REX developed compounds for the direct vulcanization on shaft leather and additionally specialized on the manufacture of rubber form soles. This made Rex market leader in this sector.

Rex was the first company being certified by the SQS in Tessin in 1990 after ISO 9001. A tireless development and advanced training as well as a high productivity with a continuously adapted control system save the succes of the company on the international market.

Rex is based in Mendrisio in the italian Swiss on the connection center between the industrial main poles of Europe. The total floor area accounts 12.000 qm, whereof 6.000 qm are tilled. Rex employs about 100 people.
