Evolution of speed
For the new S-Works Epic 8, Specialized tweaked every variable in the formula for speed. They pushed the boundaries of performance, efficiency, and lightweight construction to deliver better equipment for today's more demanding XC tracks. The Epic 8's new kinematics make it the most pedaling-efficient bike Specialized has ever tested, while the shocks, with custom tunes, absorb impacts better than ever before. The new Epic 8 represents the next evolution of speed.
If you race cross-country or prioritize speed on your rides, the Epic 8 is the bike for you.
UNBREAKENLY POWERFUL: The Epic 8 is the most potent 120mm bike on earth. You'll be blown away by the performance of its progressive geometry, which excels on technical terrain, delivers rapid acceleration, and impresses with its efficiency on climbs. Meanwhile, the frame's extremely high torsional stiffness guarantees the most precise handling.
UNSHOCKED: Compared to the previous generation, the new Epic 8 absorbs a full 12% more impact and vibration forces, so you tire less quickly and can perform better for longer. While others suffer, you'll have enough power left in your arms and legs for your next attack.
FACTORY SHOCK TUNING: The Specialized Ride Dynamics team fine-tunes all the shocks on their best mountain bikes with a special tuning process. This is also true for the Epic 8, whose damping characteristics not only enhance the performance of this XC race bike, but also the overall riding experience. By perfecting the interplay of shock, leverage, and kinematics, they can create a mountain bike that performs better as a whole than the sum of its parts.
MAN-MACHINE SYMBIOSIS: Thanks to the optimized kinematics of the suspension, Specialized 's Ride Dynamics team was able to reduce pedal-induced bobbing by a full 20% – the suspension remains active while riders stay in the optimal position for maximum pedaling efficiency. Among the full-suspension mountain bikes tested by Specialized , the Epic 8 is the most efficient at pedaling.
LESS IS MORE: And savings are well-earned – at least in the case of the new Epic 8. It's lighter, yet boasts two new features: The SWAT™ Box 4.0 in the downtube provides space for everything you need in case of a breakdown on the track. And the integrated steering stop prevents the handlebars from immediately "scraping" against the top tube. In fact, despite these two features, the S-Works Epic 8 frameset is a further 76 grams lighter and our most capable Epic frame ever.
