Campagnolo EKAR crank

Of course, using the individual chainring is easy: no derailleur, significantly reduced weight, fewer moving components that can collect dirt and form obstacles, and a high level of safety of the drive chain without unnecessary chainring overlap - the perfect solution for gravel routes. The two UD carbon cranks have axle halves made of AISI 630 steel, which are in harmony with the clever combination of materials of the entire Ekar group and have the purpose of obtaining lightweight components with optimal efficiency and durability. Thanks to the new ProTech ™ technology, the two halves of the axle are connected inside the bottom bracket by a single strong screw. The oversize stainless steel bearing is located on the crank and is attached to the axle half for maximum smoothness and strength - and to be easily accessible for inspection and maintenance work without having to remove the bearing shells.

The crankset is the heart of the new 1x Ekar system with its chainring options that cover a wide range of uses

There are four chainring options: Adventure has 38 teeth; Pure Gravel has 40 teeth, Fast Gravel has 42 teeth and eGravel has 44 teeth. Their optimized design offers an efficient drive system and maximum reliability of the drive chain. The light and durable chainrings made of 7075 aluminum are easy to replace: They can simply be unscrewed from the four crank arms without having to remove the crankset. The four crank arms, which are arranged asymmetrically for optimal load distribution, have a bolt circle of 123 mm. By changing the chainrings you can easily and efficiently change your gear ratio while riding different types of tracks. The Ekar crankset has four different crank lengths - 165, 170, 172.5 and 175 mm - which are suitable for cyclists and bicycles of all kinds. On some gravel bikes with a low bottom bracket, the shorter cranks are most often used to avoid getting stuck on uneven and unpredictable ground. A Q-factor of 145.5 mm offers a comfortable and efficient step style regardless of your height. The UD carbon crank arms have removable protective caps at the end so that your components are like new on any terrain you tackle.

Technologies used

In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses for this product.

Pro-Tech ™

The patented ProTech ™ technology with double seals firmly connects the two halves of the axle inside the bottom bracket and protects the bearings from the ingress of water and mud, which ensures high performance and durability even under the worst conditions. The innovative and proven Ultra-Torque ™ technology was developed in gravel form. The Hirth coupling of the ProTech ™ system has self-centering and self-aligning teeth that are located in the center of the crank, where the ends of the built-in axle halves meet.

The axle halves are fixed with a single, oversized, protected screw. Their precise fit can even compensate for the misalignments that some carbon frames can have due to the tiny tolerance differences in their manufacture. The torque transmission of the ProTech ™ pedal crank system is as efficient as that of a single thru-axle and lighter. In addition, it is also more durable as it is better protected than other systems. The oversize stainless steel bearing located on the crank outside the bottom bracket shell offers maximum rigidity, smoothness and strength thanks to the enlarged diameter of the pedal axles.
