In this chapter, we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses for this product.
High Definition Optics® (HDO®) Oakley High Definition Optics® (HDO®) lenses provide optimum safety and performance to meet the uncompromising demands of high-performance athletes who want nothing less than the clearest, sharpest and most precise vision. The glasses allow for even more accurate and more precise viewing than conventional lenses, which magnify the images and display objects as if they have been moved from their actual position.
UV protection thanks to Plutonite® glass material UV light is an invisible form of radiation that hits your retina at 299,338 kilometers per second. Ocular eye diseases include cataracts, photokeratitis (snow blindness) and pterygium (wing skin). Damage caused by UV light gradually develops. UV rays are usually not felt, so there is no natural warning sign of damage. Clouds can cause less UV to reach your eyes, but clouds alone can not completely eliminate UV radiation - which means your eyes can be exposed to UV rays even on cloudy days. The Oakley Plutonite® glass material stops all ultraviolet radiation from the sun's thermonuclear furnace at any wavelength, not just the low UVA spectrum. Even Oakley's clear glasses filter 100% of the total UV radiation.
