Technologies used
In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses in this product.
press fit
In order to take the needs of the consumer into account in the best possible way, Shimano has developed press-fit bottom brackets. Here, too, your goal is: maximum efficient pedaling.
The bottom bracket axle is guided stably by the wide bearings. The basis is the HOLLOWTECH II technology, which stands for highly efficient power conversion.
HOLLOWTECH II
Perfect balance between stiffness, stability, weight and rotational efficiency. The concept of the HOLLOWTECH II technology was geared to the production of an optimized crankset that minimizes the effort required by the driver for the drive. The high rigidity of the crankset ensures efficient power transmission when pedaling, while its low weight relieves the rider, especially over longer distances. The development of the crankset was carried out with a view to an optimal ratio between rigidity and low weight. HOLLOWTECH technology enables extremely lightweight, hollow crank arms that are manufactured using SHIMANO's exclusive forging technology for maximum rigidity. In addition, the right crank of the HOLLOWTECH II set is firmly connected to the axle of the bottom bracket, which achieves an optimal balance between maximum rigidity and minimum weight. The externally mounted bottom bracket offers better weight distribution and more stability, which ensures more efficient power transmission.
When developing the HOLLOWTECH II crankset, value was placed on an optimal ratio between rigidity and rotational efficiency as well as low weight and an attractive appearance.
High quality precision seals. The HOLLOWTECH II crankset also features high-quality precision seals in the bearing area to extend durability and maintain excellent rotational efficiency over the long term.
